Judge Traeger informed the defendant that both charges were felonies punishable by imprisonment in the state prison and that he would appoint counsel for him if he was indigent. The Judge urged counsel because of the seriousness of the charges. The defendant refused counsel, stating, ". . . I dont need an attorney to say Im guilty," and he also stated, "Well, the thing is, if we wait for the lawyer and all this, its going to drag on and on and its going to be a guilty plea anyway."
